Noordhoek has what is known as the Art Route, where you can go and visit artists in their studios or galleries. If art is your thing, then check out the local artists in the Fish Hoek valley and surroundings: paintings, sculpture, pottery and more.

• Chameleon Gallery, Kalk Bay : One of Kalk Bay’s attractions selling works of South African artists (local and others). Be sure to have a look inside when you visit Kalk Bay.

• Dixon-Reid Fine Art Gallery, Simon’s Town : This gallery is where Paul B. Dixon has his studio, creating his wildlife paintings. Other artists, local and from further afield, also exhibit and sell their paintings here.

• Heather Auer Art & Sculpture, Simon’s Town : A charming gallery at the Simonstown Waterfront stocked with orginal art by South African artists. Includes paintings, bronzes and ceramics.

• Larijworks, Simon’s Town : A collection of nautical artworks and designs, including objets d’Art created from restored character pieces, sailing yacht models and half models, as well as photography captured in and around Cape Town by Hans Larij Werkman.

Artists

• Anat Oren : Anat is originally from Israel but has made Glencairn, Cape Town her home. Her focus at the moment is creating intricate pen and ink paintings of African wildlife, and in between she creates clay pots which she handpaints in vibrant colours.
• Ryno Swart : Ryno lives in Simonstown and exhibits his work in his own studio (Ryno Swart Fine Art) in St George’s Street, Simonstown. “Art to me is the realest job, because you are actually forming something, creating something, and adding value to the world.“
• Paul B. Dixon : Paul’s work can be found in private and corporate collections in more than two dozen countries around the world. He completed a commission from the Sultan of Oman for two oil paintings, which are hanging in the new palace. He paints in the Dixon Reid Fine Art Gallery in Simonstown.
